Animated Drawings is a web-based tool from Meta* AI Research that turns children’s drawings and simple sketches into short character animations. It uses AI methods (including Detectron2 and AlphaPose) to detect the character, build a basic skeleton with keypoints, and generate motion.
What you can do
- Animate a character with 30+ preset motions such as walking, jumping, and dancing
- Automatically separate the character from the background
- Generate a pose skeleton and keypoints for the drawing
- Make quick, simple animations from a single image
How it works
- Upload a drawing (JPEG or PNG), ideally a character on a white background
- The tool detects the character and suggests a cutout and keypoints
- Optionally refine the result by selecting areas to animate and adjusting keypoints
- Choose an animation preset and save the output
Animated Drawings isn’t available as a standalone download—it runs in the browser at sketch.metademolab.com. No registration is required, and the service is free. The interface is in English; Russian UI is not currently supported. In some countries, access to AI features may be limited due to regional restrictions.
