Hunyuan3D is a Tencent-built neural network that generates 3D models from text prompts or images, helping speed up 3D content creation for design, architecture, visualization, and game development.
How it works
Hunyuan3D uses a two-step pipeline:
- Multi-view image generation: creates several RGB views of the object from different angles (about 4 seconds on powerful hardware).
- 3D reconstruction: builds a full 3D model from those images, reducing distortions and noise to improve accuracy.
Prompts can be entered in English or Chinese.
Requirements and local setup
Hunyuan3D is designed to run locally. For full use, a GPU with at least 40GB of VRAM is recommended, though users report it can run on 20GB GPUs such as the Nvidia RTX 3090.
Common use cases
- Game art: characters, props, and environments from simple text prompts or reference images.
- Architecture and design: interiors, furniture, and other realistic objects.
- Education and research: model creation for learning projects and data visualization.
Key features
- Text-to-3D and image-to-3D generation
- English and Chinese prompt support
- Open ML model suitable for modification
- Local execution on hardware with 20GB+ VRAM
