ireadfaster is an AI-powered Chrome extension that adds “Summary” and “Transcript” panels directly to the YouTube interface. It uses OpenAI to generate a structured overview of a video and a full text transcript right next to the player.

Summaries and transcripts on demand

To create a summary or transcript, click “Generate” in the panel that appears on any YouTube video page. The extension analyzes the content and returns a readable, structured result—useful when you need to review long videos, lectures, or podcasts without watching everything end to end.

Both the summary and transcript are interactive. Click a text segment to jump to the matching moment in the video, which helps when you want to:

• Find a topic quickly
• Locate a quote or key point

Setup and access

After installing from the Chrome Web Store, the extension integrates into YouTube automatically. On first use, it may ask you to sign in with Google to help prevent abuse and manage AI generation costs.
