Jaaz is an open-source AI tool for creating images, video, posters, and storyboards. It can run locally to keep your data private, and it’s positioned as an alternative to paid design tools.
What Jaaz does
Jaaz focuses on fast visual generation with options for both local and cloud models. You can generate content from prompts, refine results through chat-based edits, and use a canvas-style workflow for more controlled outputs.
- Text-to-image generation
- One-sentence video generation
- Interactive canvas for visual editing and “visual programming” with arrows and notes
- Chat-based editing for objects and styles
- Stable Diffusion support for local models
- Storyboards on an unlimited canvas
- Automatic prompt optimization
- High-resolution export
Jaaz also supports integrations with 12 cloud APIs, including GPT-4o and Midjourney.
How to use it
Jaaz is available as a web app and a desktop app for Windows and macOS. The desktop app runs locally and reduces reliance on an internet connection. Setup typically takes up to 5 minutes.
- Sign up at https://jaaz.app/
- Download the app for your platform (or use the web version)
- Install Python 3.12 or later
- Enter a prompt and generate
- Optionally build a canvas diagram to guide generation
- Configure export settings and save in the format you need
Local use is free; cloud APIs are available via subscription starting at $5/month. The interface is available in English and Chinese.
