Cursor

AI code editor that suggests, fixes, and explains code as you write

Updates

Cursor released version 2.2 of its code editor. The update adds Debug mode: an AI agent takes a text description of a problem, forms multiple hypotheses, tests them, and proposes a fix. Users can review logs and confirm the result. It also introduces multi-agent evaluation—assign the same task to multiple models, and the system selects the best output and explains why. Planning mode was updated to support schemas and diagrams generated automatically by the AI. You can now pin model chats to the sidebar in Agent mode.

Description

Cursor is an AI-powered code editor built to speed up everyday development work by helping you write, understand, and improve code directly in the editor.

What Cursor does
Cursor focuses on practical coding assistance during development:
  • Context-aware code autocomplete
  • Error fixing and improvement suggestions
  • Guidance on using libraries and frameworks
  • Natural-language prompts that generate code examples
  • Code analysis when you paste existing snippets
  • Option to download Cursor for local use

You can describe the functionality you want in plain language, and Cursor generates the relevant code fragment. It also provides documentation-style explanations for the functions and libraries involved.

Getting started
To use Cursor:
  • Download and install Cursor from the official website
  • Launch the app and sign in to your account
  • Set up integration with your preferred IDE environment
  • Enter a natural-language request or paste code for review

Cursor offers a free tier with limited functionality and supports multiple programming languages, including Python, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
