Grok (Grok-3) is the latest language model from xAI, led by Elon Musk. It’s designed for open-ended chat, answering questions across many topics, and working with up-to-date information from the web.
What Grok can do
- Hold natural conversations and answer questions in multiple languages
- Help with reasoning-heavy tasks, including math and code generation
- Offer different work modes (e.g., Research, Brainstorming, Data Analysis, Images, Code)
- Run DeepSearch, which scans the web for answers and provides a reasoned guess when data is missing
- Work with file inputs such as images (where supported)
Key characteristics
- Integration with the X platform for timely information
- A less restricted approach to content compared with many competing chatbots (as stated by the product’s positioning)
- Can generate humorous and sarcastic replies
Access and availability
Grok-3 was presented on February 17 at 8:00 PM Pacific Time and is rolling out gradually, with access initially limited to testers. A free tier is expected with limitations, while full functionality may require a subscription. In some countries, availability may be region-limited. There is no separate Grok-3 app yet; it can be used in a browser. Grok is also available officially in Telegram via a link shared by Elon Musk.
