Seeing AI is a Microsoft mobile app that uses AI to help people who are blind or have low vision understand what’s around them. Using your phone’s camera, it recognizes text, people, objects, and scenes and reads the results out loud.
What it can do
Seeing AI turns visual information into spoken descriptions in real time and supports a range of everyday tasks, including:
- Read printed text live
- Recognize faces and describe emotions in photos
- Identify currency from different countries
- Describe scenes and nearby objects
- Scan barcodes and speak product information
- Detect colors
- Recognize handwritten notes
- Estimate indoor lighting levels
The app also includes a feedback option so users can send suggestions to help improve future versions.
How to use Seeing AI
You can install Seeing AI on iOS or Android. To get started:
- Download it from the App Store or Google Play
- Open the app and allow camera access
- Choose a mode from the main menu
- Point the camera at text or an object
- Listen to the spoken description
- Adjust language and voice in settings
Seeing AI is free, with no in-app purchases or subscriptions, and supports 17 languages, including Russian, English, and Spanish.
