Updates

Moonshot AI now positions Kimi K2.6 as the current Kimi model for coding, long-running agent work, visual understanding, documents, spreadsheets, and presentations. For everyday users, that means stronger chat and new work modes inside Kimi.

Description

Kimi is Moonshot AI’s chat product for long documents, files, search, coding, and research workflows. In 2026, the platform’s main technical focus moved to Kimi K2.6, a model built for coding, agent tasks, visual analysis, documents, spreadsheets, and presentations.

Use Kimi when you need a browser-based assistant: ask questions, summarize material, compare sources, and work with long text. If you are looking for the model, API, or agent-building angle, see the dedicated Kimi K2 card.

What Kimi can do

  • analyze long texts, documents, and user-provided material
  • help with search, summaries, and source comparison
  • write and explain code, including debugging tasks
  • act as a general assistant for study, research, and work
  • use the newer Kimi model family, including Kimi K2.6

When to choose it

Choose Kimi when you need a quick AI chat for reading, analysis, and content preparation. For model comparison, LM Arena is useful; for API and agent workflows, Kimi K2.6 is the stronger entry point.
