Description

Microsoft IQ is the context layer for Copilot and AI agents. Microsoft is explicit that it is not an LLM. It is a solution layer that combines data, knowledge, work signals, business rules, and trusted enterprise context so agents can reason with the company's reality.

What It Combines

Microsoft describes IQ through Work IQ, Fabric IQ, Foundry IQ, and Web IQ. Together, they are meant to give agents a shared understanding of people, processes, data, knowledge, and fresh information from the web.

  • shared enterprise context for Copilot and agents
  • Microsoft 365 work signals through Work IQ
  • data semantics and business rules through Fabric IQ
  • governed knowledge and systems through Foundry IQ
  • fresh web information through Web IQ

Why It Matters

Most agent projects fail when context is thin. Microsoft IQ tries to solve that layer. It does not replace Copilot or Microsoft Fabric; it gives them a shared grounding layer. In Microsoft AI, it is the intelligence layer.
